Although several of the partners of Fortunato, Knobbe, Davenport & Arnold have been practicing together since 1981, the firm in its present form was founded in Westmont, Illinois in 1987, serving the community's legal needs in family and domestic law, business and corporate law - including the emerging areas of internet, e-commerce and cyberlaw, civil litigation, and real estate.

Our real estate clients are effectively represented by Joe Fortunato, the Past President of the Illinois Real Estate Lawyers Association. Joe has over 25 years of experience with every facet of real estate and is frequently called upon to speak at DuPage County Bar Association and Realtor® Association of the Western Suburbs seminars on various real estate issues.

Both Joel Arnold and Sharon Knobbe concentrate their practice in family law, traditionally a significant focus of the firm's practice. They are intimately familiar with some of the more challenging aspects of family law, including complex property division, custody and visitation, paternity, dissipation of marital assets and tracing of marital assets. They both have litigated a significant number of cases and issues.. These cases have included issues of custody, parental alienation, dissipation of marital assets, and child and spousal support. Between them they have over 40 years of litigation experience, 30 years of which have been concentrated in divorce and family law matters.

Jack B. Davenport has recently joined the firm as a stockholder. Jack concentrates his practice in the areas of personal injury and workman’s compensation. He has more than 30 years experience in these areas and has very successfully negotiated reasonable settlements on behalf of his clients or litigated their cases before both juries and judges.

We move our cases to conclusion as rapidly as possible to allow our clients to begin focusing on the next phase of their lives. Many cases can be settled in six months to a year. However, each case is unique and many things can delay a case, such as the complexity of issues, busy court dockets, or when the other party drags out negotiations. We work to resolve cases within the time frame our clients need. We believe there is no reason for many cases to drag on for years.

We consider it a compliment to our Firm that many of our clients are referred by former clients, other attorneys who feel confident in recommending us to their clients and friends, and even opposing spouses in a surprising number of cases have referred their friends to our firm rather than to their own attorney.
